Khelo India Youth Games 2024 offers athletes an application form on its official website. KIYG operates like a team championship; each State or Union Territory (UT) receives an overall medal tally based on how many medals their athletes won during competition. After the Games, the State or UT with the most gold medals will be declared victorious.
Khelo India Youth Games 2024: Dates
Khelo India Youth Games will return for their sixth edition in Tamil Nadu from January 19 to 31, 2024, featuring selection trials across Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, and Trichy. Athletes interested in competing can register online – free to compete in Olympic and non-Olympic sports with complimentary coaching training and game kits provided by event organizers.
Khelo India Youth Games 2024: Games and Medals
This year’s competition will introduce many exciting new sports, from kayaking and canoeing to traditional Indian activities like mallakhamb, thang-ta, gatka, and yogasana. Furthermore, fencing will debut at this competition for the first time! A martial arts discipline known as silambam will make its first appearance.
This year’s Khelo India Youth Games will include over 125 events across 29 disciplines spanning Olympic and non-Olympic sports for boys and girls ages 13-18 years. The two best athletes in each sport will split Rs 5 lakh after a series of competitions amongst different teams.
Held in New Delhi and eight other locations in Madhya Pradesh, the KIYG 2023 was a huge success. There were almost 5,000 competitors in 27 sports, hailing from 36 Indian states and union territories. A total of 973 medals were for sale. More than 500 athletes represented the host state of Madhya Pradesh.

Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority has announced the dates and venues for selection trials ahead of this year’s Khelo India Youth games, which will occur across four locations: Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, and Trichy.
